Ronald J Emond DVM MS
Dr. Ronald Emond was born and raised in New Britain, Connecticut. He attained his undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, a Masterʼs Degree in Biochemistry at the University of Connecticut and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in 1985. He began his training in equine reproduction while working at a prominent breeding farm in Paris, Kentucky where he was lucky enough to personally handle Secretariat, who was standing at stud at the time. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Emond moved to New Milford, CT to start Candlewood Equine, a full service equine ambulatory practice with special emphasis on assisted reproduction relating to the mare and stallion. In 1994, he moved to Bridgewater where his reproduction clinic is now located.He is licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Connecticut, New York and Kentucky.
Dr. Emond has lectured at the Equine Affaire in Springﬁeld, Massachusetts, taught college level classes in breeding management, conducted seminars for Pﬁzer, Nutrena, and Agway, and speaks at various local horse organizations, associations and 4-H clubs. He and his wife, Debbie have three children and two grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball and being outdoors.
